I did not expect that spicy food can get your gum swelling
Food state great! But sometimes this food can cause swelling on my gums. Spicy and acidic foods can aggravate swollen gums for several reasons:
-
Irritation: Spizy foods contain compounds like capsaicin that can irritate sensitive tissues. This irritation can worsen inflammation and discomfort in swollen gumes.
-
Acidity: Acidic foods (like citrus fruits or vinegar) can lower the pH in your mouth, leading to further irritation of already inflamed gum tissue. This can exacerbate swelling and discomfort.
-
Increased Blood Flow: Spicy foods can increase blood flow to the area, which may lead to more swelling and sensitivity in already swollen gums.
-
Bacterial Growth: Some spicy or acidic foodz might promote bacterial growth if they leave residues in the mouth, potentially leading to further gum issues.
For these reasons, it's best to avoid such foods until your gums heal.
